Reflections On Nexus Experience (1)

Covid-19 has rapidly affected our day to day life, businesses, disrupted the world trade and movements. For us students, classes, including co-curricular activities, had to be conducted online. The online cca sessions were definitely different. Firstly because, the experience itself was new and, at that point in time, we did not have enough exposure to the cca and our cca mates.

Our teachers and Exco members planned different workshops and activities for us during the online sessions. We learned something interesting and fruitful each session which made us exhilarated for the upcoming sessions. Moreover, we were able to build strong relationships during the time we had in CCA. This was especially important to our mental health as Covid-19 had reduced our face-to-face interactions. Looking back, we are very proud of NEXUS and how far it has come, from a bookshop CCA to where we are now. We are thankful for our teachers, Exco members and CCA mates for making this possible.

Nexus has organised many exciting and enlightening programmes, such as Reactor School, GIC and Discovery Series. The Nexus Reactor School is an organisation that aims to develop entrepreneurs in Singapore. They guided us through the process of creating startups and taught us various techniques such as presentation skills and body language to impress investors and boost the success of our startups.

The GIC program taught us how the economy functions through various activities and games, teaching us how different factors affect the economy. We were taught the importance of teamwork and communication through the games and most importantly, were given the space to make mistakes and learn from them. The Discovery Series connected us to successful entrepreneurs, allowing us to learn and benefit from their vast experiences, knowledge and advice. This was especially useful as we were able to clarify our doubts and misconceptions.

Looking forward, We can’t wait to take part in the upcoming competitions and enrich our knowledge further. With that, let us all wear our masks, stay healthy and have a great year ahead. Thank you.
